Greetings to all!
Thank you for visiting Lightseekerimages. Much like life, this is a work in process. For those of you that are curious about such things, my passion for photography has resulted in a now 30 plus year pursuit of trying to find and capture "beauty".
The name Lightseekerimages came from answering a common question while out photographing one day, namely, "what are you doing"? Tiring of the same old answer, I replied "I'm seeking the light". As I thought about making photographs, it dawned on me that indeed, that is what it mainly is about. After all, "photography" comes from two Greek words - phos ("light"), and graphis ("stylus or paintbrush"), together meaning something like "painting with light". To make images meant to seek light.
Perhaps paradoxically, I find two of my favorite expressions of beauty in the often juxtaposed Natural and Automotive worlds. I've loved things from the Natural and Automotive worlds since early childhood. Growing up around Washington D.C., I spent quite a bit of time escaping to the lovely Maryland and Virginia countryside. I was also fortunate enough to live adjacent to the Chesapeake Bay for several of my formative years. Quite an extraordinary place!
My Father, who always loved these things as well, did some local club racing with a 1955 Porsche Speedster. Being a boy of 5 or so years at the time, I, of course, felt compelled to "help" my Dad when it came time to work on or prep the Porsche. Of course, that really means I busied myself getting in his way more than anything else! My Father, quiet and shy, was always patient with his little pest. He taught me how many things worked, and gave me an early appreciation of things mechanical.
Among many talents, Dad was accomplished in drawing and painting. Always self taught, He worked in Pen and Ink, Watercolors, Oils, Acrylics - pretty much anything he set his mind to. It seems that some of that rubbed off on me too, although for me it is expressed through photography.
Dad was raised a country boy in the Appalachian Mountains of deepest Southwestern Virginia. There, he developed a love for animals. One manifestation of this love was an uncanny knack for gaining the trust of animals. It used to amaze me how animals, especially wild ones, seemed to know he meant them no harm. I thought this was very cool, and that really started my love of Nature. I too seem to share this gift with animals, though to a somewhat lesser degree.
Thus my deep and abiding love of Nature and Automobiles.
In addition, my current work includes Restaurants, Events, and People.
